Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is one of the famous trekking trails in Nepal. The popularity of this trekking route is probably due to its short length, average number of walking an hour and ease of the trek. The trekking route passes through beautiful dense rhododendron and oak forests with constantly accompanying the exotic view of the mountains. One can see the humble nature of Gurung and Magar community as we sit in their villages for the overnight halt. The warmth and good hospitality of these people are certainly very heartwarming. Poon Hill is best known for the mountain views it has to offer. The peaks Annapurna I, II, III & IV, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu are some of the peaks you can see from this very viewpoint. You can be sure that you will not only fill up your memory card with pictures but also your mind with extraordinary memories.
The trip starts with the road trip to Pokhara, continuing further down to Nayapul. The actual walk starts from here as we head towards Birethanti passing by Hile and Tikhedhunga. Our path crosses dense rhododendron and oak forests. If it is the spring season, the blossoming red flowers are such a beautiful sight one can be able to witness. Our next stop is Ghorepani, where we reach after a steep climb to Ulleri and further ahead. Poon Hill is just about an hour walk ahead, where we head out early enough so that we do not miss the sunrise. The golden sun rays falling on the mountain ranges look surreal. The trek ends with us reaching back to Nayapul via Syaulibazar. We head back to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu. The ache in the muscles will definitely be mixed with a galore of wonderful memories.

Today we go for sightseeing in the Kathmandu Valley. After breakfast, we will head out to Swayambhunath or the Monkey temple which is a self-made stupa. We then move to Bhaktapur Durbar Square which lies to the eastern side of the valley. One of the UNESCO world heritage of the country, Bhaktapur is an ancient Newari city reflecting culture, arts, and traditional architecture. We will visit 55 windowed palaces, Naytapola Temple, Dattatraya Temple, Golden Gate and Siddhi Pokhari to name a few. We stop here for lunch and continue our outing to Basantapur Durbar Square later in the afternoon. We can see the palaces and temples in ruins after the earthquake. We will also go and visit the living goddess of Kathmandu, Kumari. We will walk to Thamel, enjoy the nightlife and have good dinner before we go to the hotel for some good night sleep.
We have a healthy breakfast in the hotel and then start our journey to Pokhara. We take the roadway which takes us about 7 hours to reach Pokhara. We pass by countryside passing hills and numerous rivers. If we reach early, we can spend the afternoon visiting Davies Fall, Mahendra Cave, go boating in Tal Barahi. We will eat Thakali dinner at Lakeside and head back to the hotel to sleep.
Today morning, we leave for Nayapul right after breakfast. Nayapul is about an hour drive away from Pokhara. We then start our trek to Tikhedunga. We walk along the trails of Modi Khola reaching Birethanti (1015m) and further continuing to Hille (1495m). We pass by forest and waterfalls along this route. We eventually reach Tikhedunga (1577m) for dinner and overnight halt.
Our trek begins with a steep climb to Ulleri village for about 2 hours. Our trail passes through oak and rhododendron forests as we ascent gradually to Banthali. We can see the view of Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli from here. We continue our climb further until we reach Ghorepani, a settlement of Magar people. We stay in lodge tonight.
The day begins early because we do not want to miss the glorious view from Poon Hill. We walk for about 45 minutes through rhododendron forests to reach Poon Hill, the best viewpoint in the Annapurna Region. We can see the panorama of beautiful peaks like Dhaulagiri (8167m), Tukuche (6920m), Nilgiri (6940m), Baraha Shikhar (7847m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), Annapurna III (7855m), Machhapuchhre (6993m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna II (7937m), Lamjung Himal (6931m) and the beauty of sunrays on the mountains make up for the early wakeup call of the day. We head back to the lodge for breakfast and continue our walk to Tadapani. The trail ascends towards Deurali and then descends until we reach Tadapani. We stay over at a local guesthouse tonight.
We start early today after breakfast. We descend through the dense forest until we reach Ghandruk Village, the biggest Gurung settlement of the country. After the three hours long walk to Ghandruk, we stop by for lunch. We enjoy our food along with the view of Fish Tail, Annapurna, and several small peaks. We can relax for a bit and then set out to explore the village. One can observe the real Gurung way of life and also visit the Old Traditional Gurung Museum and Buddhist Monastery. We stay over at guesthouse tonight.
We descend through our morning trek, down the stone steps till we reach Syauli Bazar. After the three-hour walk, we trek till Birethanti and stop for lunch. We walk to Nayapul and board the van for an hour ride to Pokhara. We check in the hotel and relax after all the strenuous walking day has come to an end and we deserve the break.
Today, we explore the city of Lakes, Pokhara. After an early wake-up call, we drive to Sarangkot to see the morning Sunrise. We then head back to the hotel for breakfast and then shortly leave for World Peace Stupa. The view of the valley is magical from the stupa. We visit Mahendra Cave, Bat Cave, Davis’ fall and end the night by feasting good food by the lakeside. We get back to the hotel for some good night sleep.
We eat a good lavish breakfast and check out from the hotel, bidding goodbye to Pokhara. After the seven-hour-long ride to Kathmandu, we check in the hotel. The remaining time is for us to relax or take a stroll around the capital and shop for some souvenirs to take back home. We enjoy cultural performance along with local dinner at a local, traditional eatery.
The trip has come to an end today. The office representative will meet you at the hotel lounge after your breakfast. He will assist you with your travel arrangements and help you check out from the hotel. You will be then escorted to Tribhuvan International Airport by our private van 3 hours prior to your flight schedule.
