Trip Overview

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is one of the famous trekking trails in Nepal. The popularity of this trekking route is probably due to its short length, average number of walking an hour and ease of the trek. The trekking route passes through beautiful dense rhododendron and oak forests with constantly accompanying the exotic view of the mountains. One can see the humble nature of Gurung and Magar community as we sit in their villages for the overnight halt. The warmth and good hospitality of these people are certainly very heartwarming. Poon Hill is best known for the mountain views it has to offer. The peaks Annapurna I, II, III & IV, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu are some of the peaks you can see from this very viewpoint. You can be sure that you will not only fill up your memory card with pictures but also your mind with extraordinary memories.

The trip starts with the road trip to Pokhara, continuing further down to Nayapul. The actual walk starts from here as we head towards Birethanti passing by Hile and Tikhedhunga. Our path crosses dense rhododendron and oak forests. If it is the spring season, the blossoming red flowers are such a beautiful sight one can be able to witness. Our next stop is Ghorepani, where we reach after a steep climb to Ulleri and further ahead. Poon Hill is just about an hour walk ahead, where we head out early enough so that we do not miss the sunrise. The golden sun rays falling on the mountain ranges look surreal. The trek ends with us reaching back to Nayapul via Syaulibazar. We head back to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu. The ache in the muscles will definitely be mixed with a galore of wonderful memories.
